Katherine Horseman, 94, of Stanford, KY passed away peacefully at home on Friday, October 7, 2022. Born on June 25, 1928 in Kirksville, KY to the late Jesse Prewitt and Cora Rogers Engle. She was a member of Stanford Church of Christ. She owned and operated Horseman’s IGA with her husband, Virgil Horseman, from 1958 to 1994. Katherine loved going to Lake Cumberland, fishing, taking trips to Gatlinburg, having the sand between her toes and hosting family dinners.
Survivors include her husband, Virgil Horseman of Stanford, KY; two sons, David Horseman (Alissa) of Stanford and Ronnie Horseman (Kris) of Frankfort, KY; six grandchildren, Jesse Lee Horseman, David Horseman, Jr. (Cindy), Kelly Horseman (Allison), Cameron Horseman (Maggie), Lindsey Pincus and Victoria Welch (Zach); six great-grandchildren, Ian, Lydia, Aaron, Amelia, Liam and Marie; and one great-granddaughter on the way, Taytum; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Prewitt and Cora Engle: one son, Kenny Horseman; one brother, Kyle Prewitt; and one sister, Dorothy Beasley.
A one-day service has been scheduled for Monday, October 10, 2022 at Spurlin Funeral Home in Stanford, KY. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Shelby Roy Hopkins and Bro. Daniel Hopkins officiating. Burial will follow at Buffalo Springs Cemetery.
