The Lincoln County Fiscal Court accepted a bid at last Tuesday’s meeting for Phase II of the project to complete the greenscape area adjacent to the courthouse. This phase of the project also includes several major renovations to the interior of the courthouse to help modernize the facility and make it more efficient.
County Judge Executive Woods Adams said the facility is in great shape for its age, but needs several updates to the mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems so that it will be usable to the county for the foreseeable future.
“This is a fantastic structure that has served the county well for several decades, and we are excited to invest in the facility so that it will continue to be the centerpiece of our county,” he said.
This phase of the project will repair the wall where the old jail used to connect to the courthouse, repair the sidewalks and curbs, add new stone terrace retaining walls, and finish the grade work on the new greenspace area.
On the interior of the building there will be work done on windows, door frames and ceramic tile. Painting will be done and new toilet rooms will be created. The project also includes site work for underground utilities, and specific upgrades, improvements and replacements of the mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.
The base bid was awarded to May Construction at just over $1.2 million dollars. The project was designed by Vanhook Architectural Services and is expected to get underway soon.
