Jackson wins, Crab Orchard goes wet

STANFORD – Nancy Jackson will be the next Lincoln County Clerk. Jackson beat interim County Clerk George O. “Street” Spoonamore V for the seat Tuesday.
According to the unofficial election results, Jackson garnered 3,867 votes and Spoonamore received 2,978, putting her ahead by a total of 889 votes.
Crab Orchard has also ended prohibition within city limits. Crab Orchard residents were asked to vote Tuesday on whether to allow the sale of alcohol within city limits.
There were 106 “yes” votes and 84 “no” votes.
According to officials Lincoln County saw a 36 percent voter turnout. There were a total of 6,892 ballots cast in the election.
