Stanford departments report annual, monthly activity

STANFORD – The Stanford Fire Department responded to a total of 891 calls for service in 2023, according to an annual report given to Stanford City Council members.
SFD reported 891 calls for service in 2023. A graph comparing the numbers to previous years shows the number of calls is up from last year by 84 calls.
The graph goes back as far as 2013, during which the department reported a total of 267 calls.
From Dec. 1 to Dec. 31, 2023, SFD responded to 73 incidents including the following:
• mobile property (vehicle) fire – 1
• road freight or transport vehicle fire – 1
• medical assist, assist EMS crew – 5
• EMS call, excluding vehicle accident with injury – 36
• motor vehicle accident with injuries – 6
• motor vehicle accident no injuries – 1
• power line down – 3
• vehicle accident, general clean up – 1
• service call, other – 1
• person in distress, other – 1
• public service assistance, other – 1
• public service – 1
• unauthorized burning – 1
• cover assignment, standby, moveup – 1
• dispatched & canceled en route – 1
• no incident found upon arrival at dispatch address – 2
• authorized controlled burning – 1
• alarm system activation, no fire – unintentional – 2
• special type incident, other – 7
The Stanford Police Department reported a total of 9,963 contacts through 911 in 2023. During the year, officers wrote a total of 1,945 citations, gave 704 warnings and made 253 arrests. There were 414 incidents/cases and officers responded to a total of 277 accidents.
SPD Officers collectively completed 619 hours of training in 2023.
In December, SPD reported 609 contacts through 911 and officers wrote 65 citations.
Officers gave 30 warnings in Dec. and made 15 arrests. A total of 36 incidents/cases were reported and officers responded to 23 accidents during the month.
Stanford Code Enforcement also provided City Council members with a monthly report for December.
Code Enforcement reported two violations and gave 21 verbal warnings in December. There was one certificate of occupancy granted and two plat reviews reported. There were 91 business licenses issued or renewed in December and two plan units of development.
