Kings Mountain man indicted for rape

A Kings Mountain man has been indicted by a Lincoln County grand jury for rape of a female under the age of 16 years old.
Zachary K. Jones, 34, of Robertstown Road, was indicted by a grand jury on one count of unlawful use of electronic means for procuring a minor to engage in sexual activities.
According to the indictment, on Dec. 25, 2023, Jones knowingly and unlawfully used a communication system or other electronic means to procure or promote the solicitation of a minor and knowingly allowed her to engage in sexual or other prohibited activities.
On the same day, the indictment alleges Jones committed the offenses of third-degree rape by engaging in sexual intercourse with the female who is under 16 years of age, and third-degree sodomy.
Jones was indicted by a grand jury on Feb. 9. His bond was set at $50,000. An arraignment has been scheduled for March 22 at 10 a.m.

The following people were indicted by a Lincoln County grand jury on Feb. 9:
- Charles D. Mcelroy, 36, of Danville: one count of first-degree burglary for knowingly and unlawfully entering or remaining unlawfully in a dwelling home of Ashley Sexton on April 26, 2023, with the intent to commit a crime and while effecting entry or while in the building or in the immediate flight therefrom uses or threatens to use a dangerous instrument; one count of intimidating a witness in the legal process by threatening the use of physical harm upon Ashley Sexton who he believes to be a witness against him in the legal process; and persistent felony offender by being convicted of at least two prior felonies. An arraignment has been scheduled for 10 a.m. on April 12. Bail was set at $50,000. Deputy Eric Dean testified for the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
- Tad J. Shelton, 37, of Hustonville: one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon; one count of violating Kentucky EPO-DVO, by violating the provisions of an order on Sept. 27, 2023, while in possession of a firearm after having been served and given notice of the EPO/DVO order; carrying a concealed weapon by knowingly possessing a deadly weapon by having conceal on his person a pair of brass knuckles. An arraignment has been scheduled for 10 a.m. on March 8. Bail was set at $25,000. Officer Jonathan Miburn testified for the Stanford Police Department.
- Trent W. Killen, 26, of Crab Orchard: one count of first-degree sexual abuse by being over 21 years of age and having sexual contact with a person under 16 years of age on Dec. 21, 2023; one count of unlawful use of an electronic means to induce a minor to engage in sexual or other prohibited sexual performance or activities, by knowingly using a communication system or other electronic means for the purpose of procuring or promoting a minor under 16 years of age in a sexual activity. An arraignment has been scheduled for 10 a.m. on March 22. Bail was set at $25,000. Jimmy Gipson testified for the Crab Orchard Police Department.
- Randy R. Adams, 56, of Stanford: four counts of first-degree wanton endangerment by shooting a firearm in the direction of Arin Machic, Liney Morales, Linsey Reyes and Dionisio Morales on March 22, 2023, thereby wantonly engaging in conduct which created a substantial danger of death or serious physical injury and under circumstances manifesting extreme indifference to the value of human life. An arraignment has been scheduled for 10 a.m. on March 22. Bail was set at $25,000. Deputy Ron Luster testified for the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
- Trampus D. Berry, 48, of Stanford: one count of first-degree possession of controlled substance by knowingly and unlawfully possessing methamphetamine on Sept. 1, 2023 and one count possession of drug paraphernalia by possessing items used to pack, contain, store, conceal, ingest, inject or inhale an illegal controlled substance. An arraignment has been scheduled for 10 a.m. on April 12. Bail was set at $5,000. Officer Nick Adams testified for the Stanford Police Department.
