A man was fatally struck by a vehicle in Junction City when crossing Highway 127 near Shelby Street on Feb. 16 just before 8 p.m. The Boyle County Sheriff’s Office identified the deceased as 48-year-old William Good Jr. of Stanford.
Good was crossing the highway heading east before being struck in the Southbound left lane and landed in the Northbound left lane. He was transported to the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center and later the UK Medical Center, where he died from the injuries he sustained.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Teresa Sims along with a passenger John Sims. Teresa Sims stated to police that she didn’t see Good in the roadway, but heard the collision and saw a human hand. John Sims thought that the vehicle had struck a deer. Bystanders told police that people often cross the road in the area but didn’t witness the collision.
According to the accident report, road conditions and visibility were poor. The report states that the vehicle was traveling at 41 miles per hour. Teresa Sims showed no signs of impairment and allowed her blood to be drawn. No charges will be pressed.
