The William Whitley House Historic Site, located in eastern Lincoln County near Crab Orchard, will open for the season on Thursday, April 25, 2024. The home is one of the first brick houses built in Kentucky. The park is also the site of Sportsman’s Hill, the first circular horse racetrack in Kentucky. The house and gift shop will be open for tours on Thursday-Saturday from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Tours can be arranged by appointment Monday-Wednesday. Groups are welcome. The park grounds are open daily year-round from early morning until dusk. The picnic shelters can be reserved by making arrangements in advance.
Come tour the house and enjoy the scenery, go for a nature walk or hike, or enjoy a picnic on the grounds. The park is located in close proximity to Cedar Creek Lake for those who like to fish or boat. The park is a great place for family reunions, church or school groups, birthday parties and weddings.
