The Crab Orchard High School Class of 1954 celebrated their 70th reunion on Friday, June 14 at the Last Stop Café in Crab Orchard.
There are nine remaining members out of a class of 32. The old Crab Orchard school closed at the end of the 1973-74 school year and is now long gone. Class member Helen Nantz said the class gathering is a yearly tradition for the group.
“After our 50th anniversary reunion we decided to go somewhere every year. After Last Stop opened, we started coming here every year,” said Nantz. “We came from a small school, there were only 32 of us. When you are from a small school you stay close. We have enjoyed each other so much.”
