Mary Ann Coffman, 74, of Stanford, KY passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2024 at The Willow’s in Harrodsburg, KY. Born on June 24, 1950 in Hamilton, Bermuda to the late Edgar and Lavinia Richardson Cox. She is the widow to the late Chief Running Elk, William T. Coffman, whom she married in 1991. Mary was a beacon of light who brought warmth, love, and joy into the lives of all who knew her, a reflection of the Cherokee name, “Bright Spirit” that was given to her. Whether it was tending to her garden, canning produce, or mowing the lawn, Mary was happiest when she was outdoors, her hands in the soil, her heart soaking in the beauty of nature. Her love for the outdoors was only surpassed by her love for helping others. She enjoyed sitting with the elderly, offering both companionship and care, a testament to her compassionate spirit. In her younger years, she enjoyed camping and RVing, embracing life’s adventures with an open heart and a bright smile. Though Mary’s physical presence is no longer with us, her spirit continues to flutter in our hearts, reminding us of the beauty of life.
