According to previous news reports, Jack McNew woke to find that all of the tires on his vehicles had been flattened.

He allegedly told LCSO Lt. Michael Mullins that he got upset and went to the outbuilding where his son was living and when the door opened, he shot him.

McNew told law enforcement he “didn’t want anyone to see his son acting like this. He put him out of his misery.”

The father called 911 but did not render aid to the victim because he “knew in his heart that the victim was dead,” according to the arrest citation.

No bond was set for McNew.

An arraignment has been scheduled for 10 a.m. on Dec. 13. Lt. Michael Mullins testified for the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
