Dustin Taulbee, owner of Unbridled Barbershop in Stanford, is going above and beyond this holiday season to give back to his community. On Dec. 21, Taulbee will host “Christmas Cuts for a Cause,” offering free haircuts to anyone in need, ensuring that families can look and feel their best during the holidays.
As part of this initiative, The Interior Journal has partnered with Taulbee to provide gifts to children in need while supplies last. The effort is designed to support families in a way that uplifts those who may need a helping hand this Christmas.
“I feel like if I can help out and give back, especially around Christmas time, then I should,” Taulbee said. “Everyone deserves to look good and feel good on Christmas Day with their families.”
In addition to the free haircuts, Taulbee has launched a $1 raffle to fund the project. The winner of the raffle will receive a free haircut every month throughout 2025. Tickets can be purchased at Unbridled Barbershop, located at 806 Miller Street in Stanford.
A life of giving back
Taulbee’s journey to becoming a barber began unexpectedly when a friend mentioned barber school at a time when he was looking for a new career path. Inspired by the idea of taking his time to deliver quality cuts and creating a welcoming environment, Taulbee took a leap of faith into barbering.
“The idea of being my own boss, controlling my work schedule, and having my kids in the shop with me is what made me pursue this career,” Taulbee said.
Since opening Unbridled Barbershop, Taulbee has made community outreach a cornerstone of his business. From offering haircuts at nursing homes to providing free services for children in schools, Taulbee ensures that everyone, regardless of circumstances, feels valued and confident.
“Getting a fresh haircut makes anyone feel better,” Taulbee said. “Every kid deserves a good haircut, and our seniors in nursing homes often aren’t able to come to my shop. It’s important to do the right thing every time I can.”
Bringing holiday cheer
The “Christmas Cuts for a Cause” initiative was born out of Taulbee’s desire to help families struggling with rising costs this holiday season.
“These past few years with inflation have really taken a toll on the community,” he said. “My time and tools don’t cost me anything. I can donate my skills to help families struggling around the holidays.”
By pairing free haircuts with gifts for children, Taulbee hopes to spread holiday cheer and remind the community that acts of kindness still prevail.
“I hope they get into the Christmas spirit this season and feel like there is still good in the world,” Taulbee said.
Future goals
Taulbee’s vision extends beyond his barbershop. He aims to grow his businesses at 806 Miller Street, which currently includes Unbridled Barbershop and Grind Time, a local eatery.
“My dream is to one day open a recreation center where the community can come together,” Taulbee said. “I want to give Stanford a place it deserves — better cuts, better food, and better health and entertainment.”
How to participate
Taulbee encourages anyone interested in attending the Dec. 21 event to reach out in advance to ensure arrangements can be made. He can be contacted at unbridledbarbershop@gmail.com or 606-661-0064
