Vernon C. Douglas, 88, of Stanford, KY passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 9, 2025 at Stanford Crossing. Born on October 10, 1936 in Stanford to the late John and Claudia Carter Douglas. He is the widower to the late Louvenia Lasure Douglas.
Vernon operated a bulldozer in Lincoln County for 48 years. His love for his work was only surpassed by his passion for farming. His dedication to agriculture was not just a job, but a calling that he honored every day of his life. Vernon’s life was one of service, not just to his community, but also to his family, his country, and his faith as a member of the Willow Grove Baptist Church. He is also a Veteran of the United States Army.
Survivors include three sons, Wesley Kevin Douglas (Trisha) of Stanford, Mark Brenton Douglas (Gina) of Dotha, Alabama, and Richard Wayne Douglas of Lexington, KY; three grandchildren, Brittany, Lauren, Claudia; two great-grandchildren, Oscar and Elliott; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Louvenia Lasure Douglas; parents, John and Claudia Douglas; four brothers, Donald Douglas, Gene Douglas, Bill Douglas and John Douglas; three sisters, Rose Smith, Margaret Garrison, Nellie long.
Visitation will be on Thursday, March 13, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.at Spurlin Funeral Home in Stanford, KY. The funeral will be on Friday, March 14, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. Johnny Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Buffalo Springs Cemetery in Stanford, KY.
Full Military Honors will be presented by Caswell Saufley Post 18.
