The Lincoln County Lady Pats opened April with a hard-fought win on April 1 but couldn’t maintain that momentum, falling to East Jessamine and George Rogers Clark in the following games.
Lincoln County showed early resilience in a 7-5 victory over Model. After falling behind 1-0 in the first, the Lady Pats erupted in the second inning. Trinity Price got the rally started with a solo shot to left field, and Halle Siler followed with a bases-clearing double that put Lincoln County up 4-1. Chloe Pennington added to the lead in the third with a two-run double to center, giving Lincoln County a cushion they’d ultimately need.
Model mounted a late-game push with a triple, a double, and an error helping close the gap, but Price remained composed in the circle. The right-hander went six innings, allowing five runs (just two earned) on six hits while striking out seven and walking one.
Siler finished the game with three RBIs, while Price led the team with two hits. Lincoln County showed strong discipline at the plate, drawing nine walks. Autumn Durham and Madilyn Wade each earned two walks, and Durham also swiped two of the team’s seven stolen bases.
However, Lincoln County ran into trouble the next day against a dominant East Jessamine squad, falling 13-0. The opposing offense jumped on early with a five-run first inning and never let up, pounding out 17 hits in the game.
Madison Cassidy started in the circle and surrendered 13 runs (11 earned) across four and one-third innings. Offensively, Pennington and Siler managed the team’s only hits, while Lincoln County turned one double play on defense.
East Jessamine’s lineup proved relentless, with multiple hitters collecting three hits each, including a pair who hit back-to-back in the order and combined for a home run, doubles, and five RBIs.
Lincoln County faced another tough challenge on April 7, dropping a 10-2 contest to George Rogers Clark. Once again, an early scoring surge by the opposition proved too much to overcome. A first-inning burst put the Lady Pats in a 4-0 hole, and a two-run inside-the-park home run in the fifth all but sealed the result.
Price returned to the circle and pitched all six innings, giving up 10 runs—five of them earned—on eight hits. Despite the final score, Lincoln County showed signs of offensive patience with seven walks drawn in the game. Hailee Elmore drove in both of Lincoln County’s runs from the bottom of the lineup.
Even in back-to-back losses, Lincoln County’s young roster has shown flashes of promise both at the plate and on the basepaths. The Lady Pats’ ability to generate walks and extra-base hits early in the week suggests the potential is there to turn things around as the season progresses.
