The City of Stanford’s annual City-Wide Clean-Up has begun.

The city started collecting items placed at the street curb Monday and will continue collection through Friday and then again next week, Oct. 14-18.

The clean-up is limited to one pickup per residence during the two-week period. All items must be placed at the street curb.

Residents are asked to separate trash into two piles: 1) Yard Clipping Pile – only include tree limbs, grass clippings, tree leaves and brush; and 2) Trash Pile – all other debris that cannot be recycled.

Other items included in the pickup are:

* Furniture and appliances – Doors must be secured on refrigerators and freezers.

* Lumber, metal/plastic pipe and wood fencing – Must be no longer than 6-feet in length and stacked neatly.

* Boxes and cardboard – Must be broken down.

* Concrete, rock, brick or dirt – Limited to a combined total of two wheelbarrow loads.

* Hot water heaters (water must be drained), sinks and commodes.

* Mattresses and box springs.

* Tree trimmings – No longer than 6-feet in length and tied in a bundle.

Items that will not be accepted are: tires, stumps or large limbs, paints or other hazardous chemicals, broken glass (unless it’s in a container), broken television screens or computer monitors, pesticides or chemicals, motor oil and brake or transmission fluid, raw garbage, batteries of any kind and no private contract work materials.
