STANFORD — The Lincoln County School District announced the hiring of Lee Ann Smith as the new Director of School Finance. Smith will be assuming the role currently occupied by Marsha Abel, who is retiring at the end of December.
Smith is a graduate of Lincoln County High School and obtained a B.B.A. in Accounting from Eastern Kentucky University.
After college, Smith worked as an accountant for Garstka and Gander, PSC, in Stanford. Smith has been an employee of the Lincoln County Fiscal Court for the past eight years where she served as Finance Officer and County Treasurer.
Smith is a life-long resident of Lincoln County and currently has three children attending Lincoln County Schools. She enjoys teaching youth at her church and spending time with her husband, Brad.
“I am very excited about the addition of Lee Ann to our district,” said Lincoln County Schools Superintendent Michael Rowe. “Her experience as Lincoln County Treasurer, along with her background in accounting, make her a good fit for this position. I feel like this will be a smooth transition for us all.”
Smith plans to transition into the new role before the end of the year.
