Maxine Hensley Black
1934-2021
Maxine Hensley Black was born on May 1, 1934 in Leslie County, Kentucky. She was the daughter of the late Hezekiah Hensley and Nora Begley Hensley. She is survived by four children, Lionel Dean Medley and wife Donna Gail of Lily, Kentucky; Theresa Cotton of Somerset, Kentucky; Elizabeth “Trixie” Williams and husband John of Stanford, Kentucky; and Willis Black, Jr. of Georgetown; ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren plus a host of other family and friends to mourn her passing. She is also preceded in death by three siblings, Leona Hensley, Hez Hensley, Jr and Thomas Hensley. The family would also like to express their sincere thanks and gratitude to Maxine’s caregivers, Lavonda Johnson and Leanna King.
Maxine was a factory worker and of the Pentecostal faith. She was a lady of many talents, she had a remarkable green thumb and always had beautiful flowers. She also loved to sew, crochet and quilt. Maxine was also very artistic and could draw very well.
Maxine Hensley Black departed this life surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 being 87 years, 1 month and 21 days of age.
A memorial service for Maxine Hensley Black will be conducted at 6 PM Friday in the Bowling Funeral Home Chapel in London, Kentucky with Bobby Helton officiating.
The family of Maxine Hensley Black will receive friends beginning at 4 PM Friday until the service hour of 6 PM.
