Jestine Genoa (Hawkins) Shelton, 81, of Crab Orchard, passed away Friday, June 24th, at her home. She was the widow of Clarence Allen Shelton who preceded her in death on April 6, 2021. Jestine was born in Lincoln County, Kentucky on October 19, 1940, a daughter of the late Geneva Frances (Weaver) and Delbert Alaska Hawkins. She was a faithful member of Watts Chapel Baptist Church and a member of the ladies Sunday school class. Jestine had worked as a nurse for many years, working in Lancaster for Dr. Green and then becoming the early childhood family liaison for Lincoln County. She enjoyed working with the kids and even after retirement she spent many hours reading to the kids at school. Jestine would often buy clothes and food for the kids that needed help out of her own pocket. She was a brave and strong lady and would always stand up and defend her children. Jestine will be missed by many, especially by her loving family.

Survivors Include her Son, Terry Shelton & Wife, Tammy; Daughter, Tammy Dodson; Son, Tony Shelton & Wife, Dana; Son, Andy Shelton & Wife, Amber; Sister, Christine & Husband, Royce Killen; Brother, Delbert “Buddy” Hawkins, Jr. & Wife, Clara Faye; 10 Grandchildren: Robbie Fletcher, Josh Shelton, Brandy Toombs, Katie Clontz, Timber Craig, Foster Shelton, Tatum Shelton, Avery Shelton, Caleb Shelton & Harley Cope; 10 Great Grandchildren: Jesse, Alesa, Braydon, Grayson, Elias, Tyus, Zley, Levi, Luke & Willow; A Host of nieces, nephews, cousins & friends also survive.

Pallbearers include her grandsons: Robbie Fletcher, Braydon Durman, Josh, Foster, Caleb, & Jesse Shelton

Funeral Services will be 1:00 PM on Sunday, June 26, 2022 at McKnight Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tony Shelton and Bro. Dan Gutenson officiating. Burial will be in the Crab Orchard Cemetery. Visitation will be after 12 Noon on Sunday prior to the funeral at McKnight Funeral Home.
