George O. “Sonny” Spoonamore IV, 63, of Stanford, KY passed away peacefully at home on Monday, February 27, 2023. Born on September 12, 1959 in Stanford to the late George O. Spoonamore III and Katherine “Kate” Ball Spoonamore. Sonny graduated from Lincoln County High School in 1979. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and person, who was on his 18th year of serving the community as Lincoln County Clerk. He was appointed after the passing of his father, George O. Spoonamore III in 2005. He was a member of New Beginnings United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching the Cincinnati Bengals, and spending time with his grandchildren, who he loved dearly.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Donna Spoonamore of Stanford; one son, George O. “Street” Spoonamore V (Erica); two daughters, Amy Hopper (Braydon) and Tinsley McCoy (Casey); two sisters, Susan K. Spoonamore and Georgia Gayle Spoonamore; six grandchildren, Gabby DelCastillo (Dario), Luke Isaacs, Ryley McCoy, Hadley Spoonamore, Hudson Spoonamore and Aikyn McCoy; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George O. Spoonamore III and Kate Spoonamore.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 3, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Spurlin Funeral Home in Stanford, KY. A second visitation will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Bro. Vola Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Buffalo Springs Cemetery.
