Severe weather downs power lines, trees in some areas

A large tree fell in the South Fork area as storms moved across the county.
STANFORD – A strong line of severe weather hit the region Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning.
Meteorologists were closely watching a long line of severe weather as it developed in the western portion of the state Tuesday night and made it’s way across Wednesday morning.
According to Kentucky Mesonet, Lincoln County received about .65 inches of rain over the course of the storm with some areas reporting hail and damaging winds.
Lincoln Emergency Management Director Don Gilliam said there were a few power lines down in the county as of Wednesday morning but that was about all of the damage left behind.
“About 60 customers out (electricity) on Crawford Lane and 75 on New Salem,” Gilliam said at about 11:55 a.m. Wednesday.
Lincoln County firefighter Tyler Smith said he and his family were fine after the storm but couldn’t say the same for their trampoline, which landed on a GMC pickup truck in the driveway.
Smith said Fire Station No. 3 was called out to a residence on Ky 1778, about two miles off of Hwy. 698 near Angel Ridge where a tree had fallen on some power lines.
The severe weather had passed through Lincoln completely by about 10 a.m. Wednesday with the potential for more showers and possibly another thunderstorm later in the day.
