The Advocate-Messenger has moved into a new office building, right in front of the old building.

The newspaper’s new office is located at 463 South Fourth Street in Danville.

The first official day in the new space was Tuesday, Jan. 2. However, staff will be continuing to move things to the new office over the next week.

The old office is at 461 South Fourth Street Building B, and the new office is the smaller building directly in front of it, facing Fourth Street.

Publisher Jeff Kuerzi said the smaller space better fits the newspaper’s current needs. He also explained that the old building was hard to find, since it has a Fourth Street address but is not located directly on Fourth Street.

“We’re very happy to remain in the same immediate area but move to a higher profile location on South Fourth Street itself,” Kuerzi said. “Being behind other businesses did make it a bit hard to find our office. Now we’ll have street parking, parking immediately behind the 463 building, as well as spill-over parking in the same lot we previously used.”

All visitors must use the back door entrance at 463 South Fourth. There’s a small parking lot in the back of the building, as well as street parking. For overflow, visitors and staff may still use the old building’s parking lot, which can be accessed from Dillehay Street.

“Our new address will be on the next round of statements so subscribers who pay by mail can just follow the same process they always do,” Kuerzi said. “We do offer Easy Pay if folks would like to pay by credit card.”

The newspaper office phone numbers will remain the same. However, as of press time, phones have not been connected in the new building yet, and may not be until the middle of the week.

The Danville office is also the main headquarters for Bluegrass News Media, which owns seven newspapers: The Advocate-Messenger, Interior Journal, Jessamine Journal, Winchester Sun, Middlesboro News, Harlan Enterprise, and Claiborne Progress.
