Wilma Reece Hatter, 97, of Kings Mountain, KY passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 27, 2024. Born on December 31, 1926 in Waynesburg, KY to the late John and Emma Falconbury Reece. She is the widow to the late Carl David “Tony” Hatter. Wilma was a member of D.A.R Logan-Whitley and she was also a Kentucky Colonel. She was an avid quilter, donating hundreds of quilts to Veteran facilities and orphanages. Wilma enjoyed traveling, gardening and living the farm life. Through the years she was a member of various Christian churches including Walltown, Green River, Watson’s Chapel and Kings Mountain Christian Church.
Survivors include one son, David Joe Hatter (Beverly) of Kings Mountain; four grandchildren, David Hatter (Megan), Jonathan Hatter (Nicole), Ashley Hatter and Chelsea Hatter; three great-grandchildren, Graison Bradburn, Kaylin Bradburn and Ian Hatter; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Tony Hatter; parents, John and Emma Reece; and five siblings, Opal Hannah, Frank Reece, Pearl Short, Elveree Hatter and Magdalene Sims.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 1, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Spurlin Funeral Home in Stanford, KY. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Spurlin Funeral Home with Bro. Greg Powell and Bro. Lynville Hatter officiating. Burial will follow at K.P. Hall Cemetery in Kings Mountain. Graveside service will be officiated by Bro. Keith Hatter.
Active Pallbearers are John Darrell Hatter, Anthony Sims, David Hatter, Jonathan Hatter and Graison Bradburn.
Honorary Pallbearers are all Wilma’s nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
