Barbara “Barb” Malinsky, 85, of Kenosha, Wisconsin, passed away surrounded by her loving family on September 25, 2024 at Froedtert South St. Catherine’s Hospital. Born on August 5, 1939 in Stanford, KY, to the late Dr. Howard and Pauline Frisbie, Barb’s quest for knowledge began her journey in education. In 1957, she attended Colorado College and later transferred to Northwestern University where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology with a Minor in Psychology. In 1962, she traveled to Michigan State University to earn a Master’s Degree in Guidance and College Personnel. She then obtained an English Teaching Certificate from the University of Wisconsin in 1966 while working as a resident hall director for 200 students at UW Oshkosh. She began her teaching career counseling high school students and taught two sophomore English classes at Horlick High School in Racine, WI, until 1968. During the next five years, she taught three 9th grade English classes and counseled students grades 7th through 9th at Lincoln Junior High in Kenosha. On July 30, 1966, Barb married Charles Malinsky in Stanford. When their sons Mike and Mark were born, she put aside teaching to be a property manager and Mom. As the boys grew older, she changed careers and became a realtor and broker for Century 21. She was well known locally as the “Lady in the Hat” and took great pride in being able to assist her clients in finding their next home. She continued to manage property and enjoyed friendships with many of her tenants through the years. Barb’s favorite hobbies were playing and singing with her guitar, acting in the Kenosha Follies, dancing, tennis and getting together with her friends for bridge. She loved watching her grandchildren play tennis, enjoyed talking politics with anyone who would listen and spent countless hours reviewing the stock market. In her earlier years, she enjoyed white water rafting on the Peshtigo River, the Chattanooga River, the Red River and the Bío-Bío River in Chile. She climbed Mount Kilimanjaro and spent time exploring Europe and Africa. Barb loved to laugh and enjoyed a good party. Her happiest moments were spent with family and fun activities. Her fondest moments were growing up with and tormenting her three brothers. She will be dearly missed by the many who knew her. Barb is survived by her sons Mike (Christina) Malinsky and Mark (Hona) Malinsky, her grandchildren Kaleb, Ciara, Brie, Anna, Lillyhona, Mila and Arielle, her brothers Jim Frisbie, Doug (Eileen) Frisbie and Richard (Peggy) Frisbie and her dear friend Patty Stokes. She is preceded in death by her husband Charles Malinsky, sister Mary Lou Frisbie and sister-in-law Judith Frisbie. A Celebration of Life for Barb was held on Saturday, October 5th at the Bruch-Hansen Funeral Home in Kenosha. Barbara (Frisbie) Malinsky
