City of Stanford Waterworks Special Called Meeting
City of Stanford Waterworks will have a Special Called meeting with the Stanford City Council on Tuesday, May 23 at 6:30 p.m. at the water office for a water project presentation and possible first reading of a water and sewer rate increase ordinance.
Third annual T.J. Hill
History Walk
The third annual T. J. Hill History Walk will be held Friday, May 19 at 6 p.m. The walk will begin at the old jail behind City Hall (305 E. Main Street). Speaker Eddie Carter will give the history about the famous Harp brothers capture and being placed in the Stanford jail. Also, the historic L & N Depot and Baughman Mill will be on the tour. After the walk to the fort, Jeff Ralston will talk about the siege of Logan’s Fort in 1777 and Eddie Carter will talk about the trial of Daniel Boone in 1778. Rides will be available to bring people back from the fort following the history tour.
Happy 225th Birthday Commonwealth of Kentucky
Happy 225th Birthday Commonwealth of Kentucky, June 1, 1777-June 2, 2017. In observance of the celebration, refreshments will be served on Thursday, June 1 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Lincoln County Courthouse. Sponsored by Lincoln County Historical Society and Lincoln County Fiscal Court. Everyone is welcome.
Join the Scavenger Hunt
Exploration 1, scavenger hunt, will be held Saturday, May 20 from 1 to 3 p.m., $150 cash for first place team. The hunt starts at New Beginnings United Methodist Church. Teams of one to five people will receive clues to sites in Lincoln County. The teams will then drive to the site and take a selfie of the entire team. Each site will have a point value (some will have bonus points that you can earn), team with most points will win. The hunt will end at 4 Generations, winner will be announced and cash prize awarded. Registration for hunt is $20 per team. Pre-registration is from noon to 1 p.m. at New Beginnings on the May 20, or you can email dawn2nonnie@gmail.com. Sponsored by New Beginnings United Methodist Church Relay for Life Team and 4 Generations Ice Cream.
Cow Bell Days begins in June
The second annual Cow Bell Days will take place in downtown Stanford Friday and Saturday, June 16 and 17. This family friendly event will kickoff with a car cruise-in on Friday night, art and craft vendors, food, and music. The festivities will continue on Saturday with a country breakfast, farmers market, parade, and ice cream eating contest. You can learn more at www.facebook.com/CowBellDays. Kings Mountain High School reunion
The Kings Mountain High School reunion will be held Saturday, May 27 beginning at noon at the Kings Mountain Christian Church fellowship hall. There will be a “pitch-in” meal.
Cow Bell Days Parade

The Cow Bell Days parade is open to all businesses, clubs, churches, civic groups and individuals interested in creating a float, carrying banners, handing out candy or driving their classic car, sporty convertible, decorated golf cart or tractor down Main Street. It is also a great way to create awareness for your business or group, and participate in a fun downtown event at the same time. Crab Orchard Veterans
candlelight service
The Crab Orchard Monument Committee will hold its seveth annual candlelight service on Sunday, May 28 at 8 p.m. at Crab Orchard Veterans Park. There will be a special speaker and singing. Cowboys and Angels Relay for Life horse show
The Cowboys and Angels Relay for Life Horse Show will be held Saturday, May 27 at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds starting at 5 p.m. Gates open at 3 p.m. There will be a Silent Auction and concessions will also be available. Family Connections FRYSC and Crab Orchard Elementary will hold their annual Excite Nite event Thursday, May 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. There will be inflatables and food. Local businesses will be on hand to give needed information to families. Everyone is invited.
Salvation Army Family store
to celebrate anniversary
The Salvation Army Family Store is planning a celebration and storewide sale on Saturday, May 20 to celebrate its one-year anniversary. Upward Basketball Camp
Play with a Purpose
Basketball camp for boys and girls that are 4-year-old through the eighth grade. Camp will be held at Stanford Baptist Church Christian Life Center, June 12-16 from 6 to 9 p.m. The next registration date is May 27 from 9 a.m. until noon at the church. You can also register Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the church office. If you have questions, please call the church office at (606) 365-2178. The church is located at 204 Church Street in Stanford. The cost of the camp is $37. May 27, is the last day that registrations will be accepted.
Blood drive to be held
Blood drives scheduled are: Thursday, May 18 from 1 to 6 p.m. in the fellowship hall at the Stanford Presbyterian Church, 213 East Main Street and Monday, June 5 from 3 to 7 p.m. in the cafeteria at Crab Orchard Elementary School, 137 Lancaster Street. Walk-ins are welcome, but if you would like to make an appointment you may call 800-775-2522 ext. 3758. Blood donors must be 17-years-old (16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds and be in general good health. Donors must also show a photo I.D. with first and last name, like a state-issued driver’s license. Kentucky patients depend on the generosity of blood donors to support them on their road to recovery.
Logan-Hubble Park events
The community is invited to be a part of the following event scheduled at the Logan-Hubble Park: June 10 – 9 a.m. to noon – Join us for the first William “Bill” Martin Youth Fishing Derby sponsored by Kentucky Fish and Wildlife to celebrate the designation as a FINS Lake.
Summer School Feeding
program
The Lincoln County Board of Education is sponsoring the “Summer Feeding Program” in Lincoln County. Faith-based, community and private non-profit organizations can make a difference in the lives of hungry children by serving FREE meals with the Summer Feeding Program. This program provides a free opportunity to add an additional facet to your Vacation Bible Schools. If your church or organization is involved in any summer youth programs from June 5-August 2, we encourage you to participate. Meals may be picked up at Fort Logan High Lunchroom. We will conduct a required training on May 27, starting at 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the board room at the Lincoln County Board of Education. Lions Club monthly meetings
The Lions Club meets on the first and third Mondays every month at the Lincoln County Public Library. The Lions Club is here to serve the community. Cedar Creek Sportsman Club
The Cedar Creek Sportsman Club meets every third Tuesday of the month with a meeting and meal. Membership is $60/year. Anyone wanting to rent building, please contact Phyllis Adams at (606) 355-0276.
Stanford Rotary Club meetings
The Stanford Rotary Club meets most Mondays at noon, at the Kentucky Depot Restaurant. Anyone is welcome to attend.
Square Dance lessons
Fort Logan Pioneers Square Dance Club mainstream lessons are being held at the Habitat Building, 4160 Hwy. 27 South, Stanford from 7 to 9 p.m. First lesson is free. Call (859) 410-4556 for more information.
