Authorities are investigating a tragic incident that claimed the lives of three people in Lincoln County on the night of February 27, 2025. Kentucky State Police (KSP) confirmed that the shooting, which occurred at an apartment on Main Street in Crab Orchard, was a double murder-suicide involving two men and one woman.
Law enforcement responded to the scene around 11:45 p.m. after receiving a call from Bluegrass 911. Upon arrival, officers discovered 30-year-old Spencer Baldwin, 30-year-old Heather Baldwin, and 40-year-old Dennis Perry had all sustained gunshot wounds.
A preliminary investigation by KSP suggests that Spencer Baldwin fatally shot Dennis Perry and Heather Baldwin before turning the gun on himself. Spencer was pronounced dead at the scene, while Heather and Dennis were transported to local hospitals with life-threatening injuries. Despite efforts by medical personnel, both later succumbed to their wounds.
Court records show that Heather Baldwin had filed for divorce from Spencer Baldwin on February 18, just days before the shooting. Family friends revealed that the couple shared three children.
Heather Baldwin was active in local politics, serving as the chairwoman of the Lincoln County Democratic Party. She had previously filed to run for Lincoln County Judge Executive in 2022, though she withdrew her candidacy before the primary election.
The bodies have been sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort for autopsies. The investigation remains ongoing as KSP works to gather additional details about the circumstances leading up to the tragic event.
