Former Atlanta Falcons Buddy Curry and Bobby Butler continued their 16th year of Youth Football Camps with a visit to Stanford as part of their 2017 Kids & Pros Youth Football Tour.
The 3-day camp ran June 12-14 at First Southern Veterans Park in Stanford. Youth ages 7 – 13 from Stanford and surrounding communities had the opportunity to attend the camp for free courtesy of local sponsors.
Curry, a USA Football Master Trainer, incorporated safe tackling techniques into his clinic along with life skill lessons. The safe, non-contact football instruction is meant to teach campers, parents and coaches the right way to play and how to avoid injuries, like concussions.
The Stanford session was open to area youth recreation and school coaches and parents interested in learning more about the following: the impact as a coach as a role model, character building through football, equipment fitting, concussion avoidance, and proper skill training and tackling techniques (the steps of proper football tackling technique and other skills to avoid injuries).
Lincoln County football coach Travis Leffew (Packers, Falcons, Chiefs, Browns), Robert Moore (Falcons), Zavier Gooden (Titans), Earl Jones (Falcons), Chase Minnifield (Redskins) and Marty Moore (Patriots) were among the former NFL players helping conduct the camp.
The Kids & Pros Football camp was brought to Stanford compliments of the following generous local partners: The Michel Family, First Southern National Bank, Danny Ayres Realty and Auction, NFL Foundation, Anglers Outpost and Marine, Elite Insurance Solutions, Mt. Hebron Baptist Church, Moe’s Southwest Grill, SSI Aerial, KM Development, Lee’s Famous Recipe Chicken, Unity Baptist Church, and Lincoln County Parks and Recreation.
