Phipps to speak at ladies’ luncheon

The annual ladies’ luncheon at Hebron Lakeside Church will be Saturday, September 8 from noon to 2 p.m. Ladies of the community are invited to lunch, fellowship, worship, and inspiration through testimony of God’s redemptive love for a drug addict. A meal will be provided and love offering will be taken to express appreciation to the speaker.
The speaker for the luncheon will be Tammie Phipps of Barbourville. Tammie never imagined, for herself or her children, that at 22 years old she would be a drug addict and married to the local drug dealer. But when her husband, Scott, found a worn, wet Bible in a convertible he purchased, she knew trashing it was not an option. She simply would not add that particular sin to her long list of transgressions. Her solution was to dry it in the microwave and place it in the hands of a Christian. As she turned the pages to dry, Tammy was captured by the words. Day by day God spoke hope into her heart.
Now, Tammie and her husband open their home and hearts to the broken and hurting. They have established Hope City, a first phase addiction recovery center. At any given time, as many as 30 people live on the property they call home in Barbourville. At Hope City, lives are changed, children are reunited, and mothers are taught to parent and find gainful employment, all while breaking free of the chains that bind them to addiction.
Come hear Tammie tell the story of God’s power to change lives at Hebron Lakeside Church, on the hill overlooking Cedar Creek Lake.
