Crab Orchard to celebrate 50 years of hometown pride

Crab Orchard will mark its 50th year of Hometown Pride with a three-day Fourth of July celebration packed with food, music, family activities, and fireworks.
The festivities will take place Friday through Sunday, July 4–6, across several locations including Veterans Park, City Park, Main Street, and Crab Orchard Elementary School.
The celebration kicks off Friday with vendor booths and T-shirt sales throughout the day. The Miss Crab Orchard Pageants begin at 6 p.m. on the stage, followed by a live Civil War living history reenactment at Veterans Park. A horseshoe tournament is also scheduled for 6 p.m. at City Park. Live music will be provided by Donavan Howard and the Amigos Band starting at 8 p.m., and the night will conclude with a fireworks display at 10 p.m.
Saturday’s events begin with a country ham breakfast at Crab Orchard Elementary from 7:30 to 10 a.m., followed by more vendor booths and an exotic animal petting zoo on Main Street. A car, tractor and bike show will take place at the elementary school beginning at 10 a.m.
Parade participants will begin lining up at noon, with the parade itself set to start at 1 p.m. Afternoon events include games for children in the park at 3 p.m. and a cornhole tournament at 3 p.m. in the Crab Orchard Elementary gym.
Live music returns Saturday evening with Threzz Enuff Band at 6 p.m., followed by Whiskey Ridge Band at 8 p.m.
The celebration concludes Sunday with a community worship service at 11 a.m. on the stage, followed by gospel singing at Veterans Park.
